What is pepperpot?
Pepperpot is a classic Caribbean dish that dates back centuries. The origins of the dish are believed to be West African, brought over by an enslaved people during the transatlantic slave trade. Over time, the recipe has evolved across the Caribbean to suit local ingredients and flavours.
Today, Pepperpot along with Fungee (Polenta / Cornmeal) is a national dish of Antigua and Barbuda. The dish is a symbol of the island's rich history and the resilience of its people.
Following on from the acclaimed success of Andi Oliver’s Pepperpot Diaries - a recipe book set in Antigua and Barbuda.
The Pepperpot Rum Shop is an organic manifestation of the book’s narrative.
Andi explores who we were, who we are, and where we’re going—all through the food we eat and the people we meet along the way.
The Pepperpot Rum shop is a celebration of all things Antigua & Barbuda and no celebration would be complete without Rum!
The success and lasting legacy of Ghana’s Year of Return is part of the inspiration.
Over the span of 100 days in Antigua & Barbuda, the aim is to curate a fully immersive cultural offering integrated with Antigua & Barbuda’s scheduled programme of events. The Project will enhance Antigua & Barbuda’s restaurant week, Art Week, Cricket World Cup & Carnival 2024.
